Kenneth Thomas Nelson

Kenny was born in Birmingham, September 27, 1945 to Sam Buckley Nelson and Emily Summerour Nelson who both predeceased him and he passed on November 28, 2024. He grew up and lived his entire life on Shades Mountain. Kenny was a graduate of Bluff Park School, Shades Valley High School and Jacksonville State University. He was a military veteran and former member of Sons of the Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans, League of the South and Southern Cultural Center. Ken was a manufacturer’s representative for many years and developed many lasting friendships with his customers. 

He is survived by his brothers, Joel (Beverly) Nelson of Spruce Pine, N.C. and Sam of Birmingham. He is also survived by nieces Jill Nelson of Birmingham and Kristi LeBlanc (Ryan) of New Orleans, great nieces Emily Owen Mendelsohn, Mary Reynolds LeBlanc and Hope LeBlanc and great nephews Harrison LeBlanc, Litt LeBlanc, Park Mendelsohn and Fields Mendelsohn. 

Kenny was a practicing Christian and a staunch Southerner.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 am Monday, December 9th, 2024 followed with a 11:00 am Chapel Service at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hoover, AL.
