Kenneth Grimes

Kenneth Grimes, Sr. of Bessemer, AL, passed into Heaven's gates Monday, November 16, 2015, at the age of 80. Ken was a great father, husband, grandfather, Christian leader and servant. He graduated from McAdory High School and was an active member of Flint Hill Masonic Lodge #810. He served over 65 years in the Lord's service as an active member and Elder of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He loved Alabama football and Bass fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. and Mattie Grimes, brother, Robert Grimes, sisters; Martha McCullers and Myra Ledbetter, and son-in-law, Doug Riley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jewel S. Grimes, son; Ken Grimes, Jr. (Kelly), daughter; Denice Riley, grandchildren; John Ashley Latham (Christina), Wesley Latham, Kendra Armstrong (Jason), Abby and Caroline Grimes and great granddaughter; Anna Armstrong.
Our family thanks everyone for their prayers, messages of support and encouragement through this challenging time.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 19, 2015, from 5-7 PM at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be Friday, November 20, at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Scott Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
