Kenneth Leroy Faulkner (born and reared in Salina, KS) of Hoover, AL passed away on Friday, May 3 at the age of 94. He was born November 7, 1918 (reborn in Norfolk, VA, 1953) and was a lifetime member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL. He was a caring and devoted husband to the love of his life, Effie, of 65 years. Sgt "Have it done" was a WWII hero and veteran with Gen. Patton's 3rd Army's 35th Div. 137th Infantry - Company C, receiving awards: 2 Purple Hearts, Infantryman badge, Bronze Star, The Order of St. Maurice Centurion, The French Legion of Honor (in Atlanta by the ambassador to France). K.L. was active with the 35th Div. since the war, serving on the board of directors and Pres. of the 137th and Comp. C and publishing monthly newsletters. He was inducted into the 35th Div. Hall of Fame in 2010 and an award "Tech. Sgt. Kenneth L. Faulkner" is presented each year to a non-comm officer in the active division today. Retiring from the Woolworth Company after 47 years, he enjoyed traveling for many years, finding old army buddies along the way. He was a loving, respected father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is predeceased in death by his wife, Effie; daughter Linda; 2 younger brothers; and a sister. He is survived by a sister, June Martinook of Ridgecrest, CA; daughter Patti Faulkner Harwell (Robert) of Hoover, AL; 4 grandchildren; 10(+1) great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9 at Noon until 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Frank Barker officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South with military color guard.
