Keith William Veigas Jr., (75), of Hoover, Alabama passed away after a lengthy illness on October 23, 2023.
Keith was born in Sausalito, California on January 26, 1948. He was a 1966 graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, Connecticut. He went into the Army as a commissioned officer in 1968, where he was a Company Commander at the United States Army Airborne School at Ft. Benning in Columbus, GA. He went on to earn the rank of Captain and received the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and many other military medals of service and valor while serving his country honorably in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne. He received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Houston in 1974 and a Juris Doctor degree from Samford University Cumberland School of Law in 1982. He was an incredibly successful attorney, even more so respected by his peers. He had a fire and a passion for representing his clients. As amazing as it sounds, Keith had five law offices spanning the State of Alabama from Huntsville to Gulf Shores. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, very generous, and was able to help many people during his time as a practicing attorney. He enjoyed his bible study groups and had a great love for horses and sport fishing. At one period, he owned a horse farm, Victory Farms, in which one of his horses, Firstlady, won a national High Point Open reining competition in 1993. He also owned multiple deep sea fishing boats, his favorite being the “Reel Law”. In fact, he won 1st Place in many fishing tournaments for catching blue marlin including the Baypoint Invitational in Panama City Beach, FL, the Oyster Bar Classic in Pensacola, FL, and the Big Game Tournament in New Orleans, LA.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Keith William Veigas Sr. and Ruth Evelyn Deckert Veigas. He leaves behind his son, Keith William Veigas III and wife Sharon of Hoover, Alabama; daughter, Tara Brown of Morris, Alabama; grandchildren, Alexandra Veigas, Kennedy and Saint Brown. He is also survived by his brother, Travis Veigas and wife Jean of Needham, Massachusetts; sister, Nancy Hagan of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; and brother, David Veigas and wife Cathy of Daphne, Alabama as well as several nephews.
