Katie Pearson

Mrs. Katie L. Fuller Pearson, of Hoover, AL, passed away May 6, 2012, at the age of 69. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer, AL, where she was instrumental in the research, editing, and publication of "The Garden Spot Grows: History of Canaan Baptist Church, 1968-2005." Katie was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and worked faithfully with her husband in their land surveying and real estate business. In her spare time, she loved flower gardening, reading, and quilting. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lee Moore Pearson, Jr., and her parents, Leonard Calvert and Vergie T. Fuller. She is survived by her son, David Lee Moore Pearson, III, of Bessemer; daughter, Jamie Pearson Shields, of Bessemer; grandchildren, Amanda Kate and Audie Lee Shields; her twin sister, Marion F. Addington of Bessemer; a sister, Jessie F. Ford of Lilburn, GA; brother, Marcus Donald Fuller (Margaret) of Vinemont and Charles Eugene Fuller (Elizabeth)of McCalla; several nieces and nephews. The family expresses thanks to her special caregivers, Lana Rouss (Jack) and Yanna Brooks. A private service was held on May 9, 2012, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South with Rev. Bill McCall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Baptist Church at McAdory, 4954 Eastern Valley Road, McCalla, AL 35111.
