Kathy Barganier Mikos

Kathy Barganier Mikos went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the age of 72.

Kathy was born September 21, 1950, in Birmingham, AL to Jennings and Betty Barganier. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1967 and graduated from Auburn University with a teaching degree in 1971. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Kathy married her husband of 50 years, Dan, in 1972 and immediately moved to Spangdahem, Germany for four years. While in Germany, she taught first grade in the Air Force school, traveled extensively, and did not pass up a shopping trip with her good friends.

She was a wonderful mother who was very active in the lives of her children. She was a Cub Scout den mother, bible schoolteacher, and taught English as a second language at Valley Elementary School. She was well known for her annual Christmas party, calligraphy that would make a monk proud, her sharp eye for interior decorating, a love for photography, and skills of a professional shopper.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Mikos, sons Gregory (Holly) Mikos, Michael (Laura) Mikos, grand-children Ansley Mikos, Griffin Mikos, Jackson Mikos, Jennings Mikos, step grandchildren Nathan Caleb Tutor, Gage Tutor, Canon Tutor, Cross Tutor, brother Jennings (Susie) Barganier, and sister Linda (Buddy) Buckner.

Kathy’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the loving care she received from her caregivers, Dana Truitt and Audrey Johnson.

The family will receive visitors at 1PM on Friday, July 14th at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hoover, Alabama. A memorial service will begin at 2PM, and a reception will follow at Hoover Country Club.
