Katherine Nelson

Mrs. Katherine Yeager Nelson, of Homewood, AL, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the age of 73. Katherine was (and is) the rock of her family. She was a daughter of Christ and an active member of Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She has been a shining example of support, mercy, love, loyalty, devotion and strength to all her family, friends and anyone who met her. She will be missed and always remembered.
She is survived by her loving and loyal husband, of 50 years, Roland Julian Nelson. She was a mother of two amazing and strong daughters, Cherie Nelson Wright and Leslie Nelson McElheny. Her six grandchildren range in age from 16 to 3 and received unending love and support from their "Granny". They are Tyler Wright (16), Carter Wright (13), Abby McElheny (8), Parker Wright (7), Miles McElheny (5) and Reid McElheny (3). She is further survived by her brother, Clyde Yeager, her niece, Kristy Y. Miley and nephew, Bill Yeager.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 12-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in memory of Katherine Y. Nelson.
