Katherine Bottoms

age 22, of Hoover, died Thursday, May 1. Katie graduated in 2004 from Hoover High School where she was vice president of her class, Peer Mediator, a member of the National Honor Society, head varsity cheerleader and a Hoover High Ambassador. She was pursuing a degree in nursing at Samford University where she was a a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society, a cheerleader and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Katie shared her love of cheerleading by coaching the junior varsity cheerleaders at Hoover High School and an All-Star squad at Cowboy Cheerleading Center. She was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. Katie was the quintessence of selflessness. Her perpetual smile always accompanied her giving heart and helping hand. Katie is survived by her mother, Shannon Seale Bottoms and her father, Steve Bottoms of Hoover; brother, Joshua (Christy) Bottoms of Hoover; grandparents, Mrs. King Murphy Seale of Birmingham and Mrs. George Bottoms of Auburn; nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends who loved her very much. The family will receive friends at Shades Crest Baptist Church from 1-3 pm Monday, May 4, followed by a celebration of Katie’s life. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South where a special tribute to Katie will be made by the Hoover cheerleaders who she coached and loved .
