June Ballard, of Hoover, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at age 89. Born on June 30, 1929, she was a native of Bogue Chitto / Brookhaven, Mississippi, but moved to the Birmingham area 10 years ago and decided she didn't want to leave. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her love for people, southern gospel music, plants and flower gardening, and NBA basketball. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pence and Ola Brown; brothers, Hilton Brown, Hulon Brown, and Haney Brown; and sisters, Margaret Brown, Betty Smith, and Ella Rose Jordan.
June is survived by her son, Tim Wallace (Cynthia); daughters, Cindy Willoughby and Nancy Rancont (Dennis); grandchildren, Brad Willoughby (Stacey), Shaun Willoughby, Brandon Wallace (Lisa), and April Vowell (Zack); great-grandchildren, Taylor Willoughby, Evan Wallace, Paisley Vowell, Kindra Coyle (Kris), Kristen Rhodes (Dave); great-great-grandchildren, Violet Coyle, Hunter Coyle, and Hazel Rhodes; a brother, Robert Brown (Marilyn); and sisters, Katie Boyd and Charlotte Matthews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hunter Street Baptist Church. The celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Buddy Gray and Rev. Barry Daniel officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hunter Street Baptist Church, Joyful Singers.
