Julia Harrison

March 7, 1948 — April 21, 2021

Julia Ann Nichols Harrison passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, April 21, at the age of 73.  She was born in Luverne, AL, on March 7, 1948, to William Porter and Evelyn Pinckard Nichols. Julia was a founding member of Phi Mu sorority at Troy and a member of the Troy State Collegiate Singers. In the choir she met the love of her life, Danny, from Florala. They were married May 3, 1970, and welcomed their twins, Keith and Kevin Harrison, one year later on May 3, 1971.

Julia could light up a room with her beautiful smile, and crystal blue eyes!  Anyone she met loved her and enjoyed her company. She was a wonderful Christian role model and a symbol of strength, courage, beauty, and grace. When she lost Danny at the early age of 60 she filled the role of both parents and grandparents. She carried on without complaint, always giving and sharing her time and love freely. Julia always delighted in time with her grandsons and referred to them as “her joy”. Her light will shine forever in the hearts of those fortunate to know her.

Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents, her brother William Terry Nichols, her beloved husband Daniel Lynn Harrison, brothers-in-law Waylon (Jeanette) Harrison and Bob Harrison, and numerous aunts and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Dr. Keith (Kay) Harrison and sons Sam and Finn; Kevin (Selena) Harrison and sons Porter and Gavin; sister-in-law Shirley Harrison; lifelong best friend, Mary Sue Cain; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and numerous dear friends.

A private family memorial service will be held to celebrate her life. If you would like to honor Julia, in lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to one of her favorite charities: Breckenridge Village of Tyler, 15062 CR 1145, Tyler, TX 75704;  Nichols Mission Center of First Baptist Church of Geneva, P.O. Box 579, Geneva, AL 36340; or  Greater Birmingham Humane Society, 300 Snow Dr., Birmingham, AL 35209.
