Joyce Pugh

Born November 24, 1927 in Kemper County, Mississippi to Grady and Eva Mae Woods May. moved to Dyersburg, Tennessee and attended High School there. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in Psychology and later recieved a M.A. in English from UT. Worked in all areas of personnel administration in hospitals in Nashville, TN, Washington DC, Cleveland, OH, Jackson, MS and UAB. She also taught English at The University of Tennessee and UAB. Retired from UAB after 22 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40years Steve D. Pugh and parents. She is survived by a step daughter Rhonda Peyton and her husband John Peyton, and step grandchildren Nicolette and Jesse Peyton.

She was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church.

Graveside services and Interment will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11am in Jefferson Memorial Gardens South Hoover, AL.
