Joyce Harris

Joyce M. Harris, of Hoover, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the age of 86. Born on August 8, 1932, she was raised in Six Mile, Alabama. Joyce was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. She also was the president and a member of the Homewood and Hoover Garden Clubs and Hoover Beautification Board. In the 1970's Joyce did volunteer work for the Homewood High School Marching Band. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Stan Harris; and her second husband, Judd Carter.

Joyce is survived by her son, Mark S. Harris; her daughters, Jenise H. King (Travis) and Janet H. Brandes (Jim); and grandchildren, Daniel, Todd, and Spencer (Cassie).

The family would like to give a special thanks to Joyce's wonderful caregivers, Linda Adams and Janice Cooper. Also, the family sends a sincere thanks for the care and support of Pam with Oasis Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. The graveside service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, at 11 AM with Steve Dedmon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Six Mile Baptist Church at 182 W. Ashby Rd., Brierfield, AL 35035, or "Unless U" c/o Shades Mountain Baptist Church ( www.shades.org ).
