Francis Joyce Lovoy Antonio, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Pat and Minnie Lovoy. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Michael J. Antonio; her son, Michael David Prosch (Miriam) and their children, Mary Elizabeth, Danielle Michelle and Joyce Madison; and her brother, Steve P. Lovoy (Sue) and their children, Elizabeth Smith (Ken), Sue Willis (Nick) and Steve, Jr. (Emily).
Joyce graduated from Ensley High School in 1966 and attended Birmingham Southern College, Jefferson State Junior College, and received her B.A. in English and her M.A. in Student Personnel from the University of Alabama in 1972. She then became Dean of Women at St. Leo’s College in Tampa, Florida, and later returned to Birmingham to teach English at Bessemer State Technical College. Joyce was a devout Catholic and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Birmingham where she assisted with the Hispanic Ministry. She loved and thoroughly enjoyed her immediate and extended family as well as painting. Joyce’s entire family extends its sincere gratitude to Renee Edwards for her eight years of excellent loving care for Joyce.
The family will receive visitors at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, AL followed by the Funeral Mass at 3:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
