Joshua Richards

Joshua Patrick Richards, of Hoover, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2020 after a short illness. During his youth, Josh was active in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was the recipient of a Boy Scouts award for bravery in 2000. Josh graduated from Hoover High School in 2004, and then attended the University of Alabama. He went on to become an EMT and then a Paramedic, after graduating from Herzing University. He worked for several years for Shoals Ambulance of Central Alabama. Josh was an avid reader and enjoyed playing online computer games with his friends and family. He often spent time volunteering for various organizations in the Birmingham area and abroad.

Josh was born on July 15, 1986 to his parents, Patrick (Pat) and Cindy Richards in Jackson, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Frances Richards and Paul and Barbara McKerrocher, and an uncle, Christopher Richards. He is survived by his parents, his sister Jennifer Richards, his uncles David Richards, Paul (Christy) McKerrocher, Michael (June) McKerrocher, his aunts Donna (Bob) Johnson, Delores Langley, and Dana (Bryant) Odom, and numerous cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 2pm at Christ City Church, 5187 Avenue K, Bessemer, AL 35020.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ City Church or the Central Alabama Boy Scouts in his memory.
