It is with saddened and heavy hearts that the family of Joseph “Joey” C. Bishop, of Schertz, Texas, announces his untimely passing. He passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the age of 53.
Joey was born January 7, 1966, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the son of the late Joseph R. and Claire C. (Davis) Bishop. He attended W.A. Berry High School. Joey held two Associates degrees and was in his senior year of his Bachelors degree. He most recently studied Professional Aeronautics at Liberty University.
Joey was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He selflessly served his country for more than 24 years as a flight engineer on the HH-60 Pavehawk helicopter.
Joey was most currently employed by USAA as a Senior Business Risk and Control Advisor.
Joey is survived by his three most prized accomplishments, his beloved daughters, Alexis (22), Taylor (19), and Morgan (17). Joey loved and cherished his daughters. He committed himself to them and their life goals. Joey and his daughters lived each day to the fullest. They loved to kayak, play games, watch football, attend concerts and soccer events. A favorite past time was “Friday night fires”, listening to music, roasting marshmallows, and seeing who could outwit the other. The only thing that truly mattered was that life was spent together.
Joey is also survived by his sisters, Cindy (Susan) and Cathy; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244. The Graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
