Joseph R. Rush, Jr. "Rip", 96, of Birmingham, AL. went to his eternal home on February 12, 2015. He was born in Tuskegee, AL. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was retired from Mobile Paint Company, after 35 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his sons: Jack Dean (Shannon) and Harry Dean, and daughter: Nancy Coshatt. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Drew Coshatt, Christopher Dean, Patrick Dean, Shelley Reeves (Jason), Laura Reed, and Ashley Holt, and his great-grandchildren: Taylor Holt and Kaylee-Beth Reeves. He is also survived by a brother: Atwood Rush (Margaret) and two sisters: Anne Daniel and Martha Robin. The family will receive friends Friday, February 20, 2015 from 1-2pm at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The funeral service will follow at 2pm. Interment will take place in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Asbury United Methodist Church 6690 Cahaba Valley Rd. Birmingham, AL 35242.
