Joseph E. Norman, Jr., age 77, passed away on October 6, 2018. He was born May 3, 1941, in Richlands, Virginia, to Joseph E. Norman, Sr. and Netty Mae Norman. Joseph served 6 years in the US Army and lived in Alaska, Connecticut, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and then 30 years in Alabama. He also attended the University of Tennessee and later worked for Revere Control Systems for 17 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping in his RV and he loved to drive his RV. Joseph didn’t watch sports except for Alabama football. He liked watching FOX News and followed national politics and national news closely. He treated everyone like he wanted to be treated. He always provided and cared for his family to the very best of his ability. Joseph loved his wife, Shirley, of 60 years, loved his four children and three grandchildren. He was a really good “PawPaw”. He is preceded in death by his parent, Joseph E. Norman, Sr. and Netty Mae Norman; and a son, Thomas Norman.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Shirley N. Norman; a son, William Norman; daughters, Donna Holton and Pam Harden; grandchildren, Jamie Holton, Kimberly Harden, and Will Norman; uncle, Henry (his dad’s uncle); and cousins, Tommy Norman and Bobby Norman.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Joseph on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 11 AM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, in Hoover. Mark Vandiver will be officiating.
