Johnnie Slaton

Johnnie Wayne Slaton, of Birmingham, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017. He retired as President of Piping and Equipment Corp. 22 years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Johnnie and Billie traveled all over the world after his retirement. He served his country in the U S Air Force for 5 years. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin Slaton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Billie Tucker Slaton; son, Mark Slaton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Slaton Traywick (Jimbo); grand daughter, Candice Slaton McKinney (Lee); two great grand daughters, Everlee and Ella Slaton McKinney; four sisters, Shirley Jones, Patsy McElroy, Linda Smith and Donna Parker; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 1 PM until 2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with services to begin at 2 PM in the Chapel. Interment will be in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Dr. James Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the American Heart Association.
