John Wright

of Birmingham, born February 2, 1928 and died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frances Wright, and his parents Roy and Ruth Wright, and dear friend Mrs. Ottie Mauldin. He was survived by three children, Sheila Carlton, John L. (Sonny) Wright, Jr. and Darlyne Hagood all of Birmingham. He also had ten grandchildren, Leslie Aven, Tricia Wallwork, Cole, Christie, Hunter, Trooper and Madison Wright; Shannon Marcus, Jeff Hagood, Amy Hagood, and six great grandchildren. He was born in Birmingham and was a long time residence of Cahaba Heights and was a member of Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church until he retired from U.S. Steel, and he and Frances moved to Crane Hill where they attended Bethany Baptist Church and later Smith Lake Baptist Church. Mr. Wright returned to Birmingham in June, 2007 and was living in the community of Liberty Park. Family and friends visitation for Mr. Wright will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tim Davis officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
