John Haynsworth Tackett left this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2024. John was born at home in Glenwood, Arkansas on February 8 , 1937 to his parents Max Andrew Tackett and Carolyn Haynsworth Tackett.
John is survived by his beloved wife Sarah Turnbow Tackett. They eloped May 11, 1957 were married for 66 years. John is also survived by his sister Sandra Tackett Zaleske and his two daughters Rebecca Tackett Balko and Caroline Tackett Gordon.
He is also survived by Larry Wayne Balko, Charlene Balko, Tatum Balko Edlin, Mary Zaleske Rivera-Ribando, Thomas Zaleske, Christine Zaleske May, and Billy Zakeske.
John attended Henderson University and Auburn University. He worked as a research biologist for the Virginia Water Control Board and then as biologist for Southern Company Services in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was a Christian who gave himself completely to Jesus and shared God's word with people from all walks of life. He was faithful to those at Lakeshore Rehab Center, Jimmy Hale Mission, prisons, and finally he was one of the Chaplins at Shelby Memorial Hospital.
After retiring from Southern Company he spent 6 months hiking the Appalachian Trail alone from Georgia to Maine.
John lived his life as a joyful and humble servant of our Savior. We were so very blessed to have his as a husband and father.
