Johnny was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 20, 1932. Upon graduation from Phillips High School, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician at Hayes Aircraft (Pemco) as well as Fairview Nursing Home part-time. After retirement, Johnny and Rosalee enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Their greatest pleasure was participating in whatever their grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. Johnny was well known for his handy skills. He could repair almost anything and could build anything he set his mind to. He greatly enjoyed gardening, grilling, puzzles, swimming, going to the beach and watching sports, especially Alabama football.
Johnny was a man of deep faith. In his youth he was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. He and Rosalee were wed at St Joseph Catholic Church in Ensley on April 23, 1958 and remained active members until they joined Prince of Peace after they moved to Hoover. He gave freely of his time to the church and community and to anyone who asked. He was a Scout Master for several years. He was kind and gentle and quietly strong. He will be greatly missed.
