of Hoover, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at the age of 77. He was a lover of football and was known as "Mr. Football" on his High School Football team. Mr. Skipper was a devoted family man who loved to fish and was a member of Stogies Dance Club. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church where he was a member of the "Care Class" Sunday School group. Mr. Skipper served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Martha M. Skipper; 4 sons, John Skipper III of NH, George Britt (Sylvia) of Vestavia Hills, Raymond L. Britt and Nicholas Britt, both of Mobile; 2 daughters, Leigh Pumilia of NH and her children, Jonathan Nicholas and Sisley Leigh Pumilia, and Sonja Jones of Hoover; and 5 grandchildren in Birmingham. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2005, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Sullivan and Dr. Buddy Gray officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
