John Penton

John Penton, of Birmingham, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the age of 78. He retired from Safelite Auto Glass after 40 years of service and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Westover. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Penton; two daughters, Wanda Honea (Jim) and Debbie Bowling (Richard); five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Mavis Kelly. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will be at 2 PM, Friday, June 3, 2011, in the funeral home chapel, Jim Profetto officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
