John Maynard

John Riley Maynard,73, of Hoover went to our Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Zelia Maynard. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jimmie Maynard; 2 sons: John (Beth) R. Maynard III, Ephraim (Cathy) G. Maynard; 2 sisters: Zelia (Aubrey) Baugh, Elizabeth Doles; 2 nieces: Zelia (Heather) Baugh, Holly (Victor) Cimino; 2 nephews: Aubrey (Margaret) Baugh Jr, Warner Doles; 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 6 grand-nieces and nephews. John was active as president in his company Maynard Enterprises, Inc. John loved serving the community through his membership in Shades Valley Lodge No. 829 as a Mason and his memberships with the Shriners, York Rite and Schottische Rite. John was also a past district governor for the Alabama Lions club. John proudly served his country in the Navy Reserves. John graduated from Shades Valley high school at 16 going directly to University of Alabama to become a member of Delta CHI Fraternity. Those who knew him knew him as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather who lived his life as a man who loved the Lord. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zamora Transportation Unit in his name, 3521 Ratliff Rd, Irondale, AL 35210. The viewing service will be at June 12th 10:00 am following with the memorial service at 11:00 am with graveside to follow at the Currie-Jefferson Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Hwy 150, Hoover Alabama 205-987-0068.
