John David Hyde, age 74, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 6, 2025, with his wife, his stepdaughter, her significant other, stepson and Daughter-In-Law; his grandchildren, his Sister-in-Law, his nieces and his best friend surrounding him with their love.
He was born on November 3, 1950, in Birmingham, Ala to John and Viola Hyde. He graduated from Ensley High School where in 1967, he met his one true love, Becky Woods. David and Becky were couple for four years and eventually became engaged. But life lead them in different directions with both following other pathways in life, only to be reunited again after 20 years. During these missing years - as David called them - he had many adventures - living in San Francisco, CA.
David and Becky married on November 19, 1994, and were blessed with 30 years as best friends and sweethearts.
He worked various jobs until he was employed by Jim Walter Resources in 1980 where he held titles from lab technician, foreman and retired as a supervisor in 2015 after being a dedicated employ for 35 years. He was known by his co-workers and friends at the mines by "Flat Head" abbreviated to "Flat" and he loved it.
David was a kind, gentle spirit who was blessed with a giving nature and wonderfully dry sense of humor bestowing nicknames on loved ones and friends. He was an avid gun collector and one of his favorite pastimes was target practice at gun ranges. He loved shopping every day at Publix. His main pleasure in life was spending time with his family and friends bringing laughter to all.
