John Howland

Mr. John Palmer Howland, of Vestavia Hills, AL, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the age of 91. John was born in Scottsboro and grew up in Decatur, Alabama. He proudly served as a fighter pilot in the US Navy. After his military service, he graduated from Auburn University. John worked his entire 44 year career at Wolverine Tube. A member of Vestavia Country Club since 1963, John enjoyed playing golf and loved dancing and telling a good joke. John was beloved by his friends and family for his great sense of humor. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rachel, as well as his four children, John, Jr., Dwight, Brett and Lori, his six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, 2701 Johns Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama, with service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
