of Hoover, passed away on March 28, 2005 at the age of 85. He received his BA Degree from Mississippi College, and his Masters of Divinity Degree from the New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He pastored Baptist churches in Mississippi from 1948-1985,where he retired from Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, MS. In addition to pastoring, he served his denomation in various positions with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. Mr. Holifield was preceded in death by a son, Terry Holifield, a grandson, Jason Holifield, and his sister, Lucille Cochran. He is survived by His wife, Janice W. Holifield, of Hoover; one daughter, Dale Magers and son-in-law, Jerry, of Hoover; four grandchildren, Kristi Breaux (Craig), John Magers, David and Christopher Holifield; and daughter-in-law, Penny Sawyer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from 6 until 8 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, with Dr. Buddy Gray officiating.
