of Hoover, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the age of 82. He was a member of Bluff Park Baptist Church for over 30 years where he was a former deacon and an active member of the building committee. He served in the U. S. Army in the Calvary during WWII. Mr. Cotten was a member of Homewood VFW Lodge and a member of Masonic Lodge #876. He was a retired teacher and owned his own construction company and fence company for a number of years. He was a kind, caring and compassionate man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 58 years, Faye Cotten, and a brother, Steve Cotten. He is survived by two daughters, Patsy Combs (Bob) of Chelsea and Sandra Parker of Hoover; two grandchildren, Sarah Beth Combs of Chelsea and AEAN2 Justin Parker (Erica) of Jacksonville, FL; a great-granddaughter, Phoebe Marie Faye Parker; a brother, Alfred Cotten (Glenda) of Cullman; a sister, Helen Harmon of Cullman; and an aunt, Lottie George of Cullman. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2008, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2008, at 10 AM at Bluff Park Baptist Church, with Rev. Tony Barber officiating. Interment will be in Center Hill Cemetery near Hanceville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bluff Park Baptist Church Building Committee.
