Joanna Catherine Knauf Barnett, 87, of Hoover, Alabama, went to be with her Lord on January 17, 2020.
She was a loving wife, mother to three children, and a friend to anyone she met. She loved talking with people and had a special love for children and animals.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1932, daughter of Matthew J. Knauf and Gertrude Jansen Knauf. She was preceded in death by her parents and her five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Piegle (Fred), Mrs. Antoinette Jensen (Elmer), Mrs. Catherine Michel (Art), Mrs. Margaret Reid (Niles), and Mrs. Marycatherine Gordon (Tom), and her granddaughter, Miss Emily Elizabeth Barnett.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Wallace Richard Barnett, her three children, Mrs. Linda Barnett Thomas (David), Miss Elaine Joan Barnett, and Mr. Brian Matthew Barnett (Marion), and her grandchildren, Mr. Cameron Barnett (Abagayle), Mrs. Olivia Barnett Jarratt (Beau), and Mr. Daniel Barnett. Joanna and Wallace would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on February 16.
Local arrangements are being conducted by the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Hoover on Saturday, January 25 at 1:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Eric Roberts.
