Joann Smith

JoAnn B. Smith, age 61, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:14 pm. She was born on December 3, 1955 in New Orleans, LA to Elliott and Mayola Boisdore. She graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Mathematics and worked at AT&T for 30 Years as an Engineer Specialist. She married Joseph Smith III and they moved to Birmingham, AL in 1986 where they raised five children. JoAnn was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was known for her brains, beauty, compassion, and selflessness.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Joseph Smith III; her mother, Mayola Boisdore; three sons, Joseph (Athena Mallakis Smith), Jason and James Smith; two daughters, Jordan and Jada Smith; her grandchildren, Joseph Thomas Smith and Alex Jason Smith; two brothers, Bobby Boisdore and Elliott Muhammed; four sisters, Laine Sylve, Jean Sylve, Lynn Leufroy, and Marietta Boisdore.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church followed by the funeral mass at noon. Immediately following the service, her body will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. After interment, there will be a repass held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
