Jo Durrett

of Alabaster, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009, at the age of 75. She graduated from Thompson High School and was retired from Shelby Medical Center after 22 years of service. Mrs. Durrett was a charter member of Westwood Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling with her church group on various mission trips. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by husband of 56 years, William "Bill" Durrett; four sons, Randy Durrett (Sheala), Mickey Durrett (Annette), Tim Durrett (Paula) and John Durrett (Paulette); two daughters, Chick Durrett-Smith (Dennis) and Janice Shoemaker (Steve); thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Thompson; and a large extended family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2009, from 12-2 PM at Westwood Baptist Church, Alabaster. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at the church, with Dr. Lee Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westwood Baptist Church.
