Jill Lee Ross was born in Rockford, Illinois on August 8, 1968. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was three years old. Jill lived in Mississippi during most of her childhood years before moving to Birmingham in 1991. In Birmingham, Jill lived at Episcopal Place Apartments. While there, she became active in playing Power Chair Soccer at the Lakeshore Foundation. Jill was one of the founding team members of the “Lakeshore Power Wheel Chair” Soccer Team in 2001.
Jill volunteered as a greeter at St. Vincent’s Hospital for many years. She also became an active member of Fullness Christian Fellowship where she made many lifelong friendships. At the time of her death, Jill lived at the Civic Center Heath and Rehab.
Jill was fond of her pets over the years, including her dog, Toby and her cats, Hobbs and Elliott.
Even though physically handicapped, Jill was very sharp mentally. She was quick-witted and fun to be around. Speaking about deep spiritual concepts of how God was working in her or others’ lives was natural for her. She enjoyed telling people about her testimony of Jesus, and was quick to praise God in most every situation. This was quite remarkable since most of her life she struggled with serious health issues.
Jill leaves behind a biological brother, Nathanael Stefan Berry.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Fullness Christian Fellowship Benevolence Fund in Jill’s name.
