Jesse Pena

Jesse Aaron Peña, born April 05, 1992 was the youngest son of the late Jose G. Peña and Deborah A. Bookhammer. Jesse Aaron Peña, who never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone. He just really enjoyed being around people. Jesse was not picture perfect, nor did he have any easy life…but his essence exuded a quiet captivation and confidence that you never knew you needed. He had a way about him in which people felt comfortable to just go up and converse with him. He had an easy fun-loving spirit, and his presence was always felt. Jesse’s story and his pain has been so difficult to bear at times, but Jesse always found a way to pull through. Jesse was a fighter, he was brave, and he was kind. He showed up when you needed him the most—without ever knowing it Jesse changed lives. “Jesse was the kindest soul that I have ever known. If you were lucky enough to meet Jesse, you had a friend for life.” Jesse, for so many was “like a kind, warm-hearted teddy bear.” He had the best sense of humor and could tell the best jokes that left the entire room laughing.” Those who knew him personally know the pain he felt from the passing of his mother…but he kept going and pushing through for us. And his essence, we will courageously carry with us as we continue our journeys. And we thank Jesse for allowing us to be apart of his. Rest in Heaven.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The Celebration of Life service will follow from the funeral home chapel at 6:00pm.

Jesse Peña, a blessed soul. Truly touched by God’s hand and given the task of spreading laughter and cheer. In such a short time, he spread that cheer to countless others. Bringing up the ones who were down with a gentle heart. He was loved by all, just as much as he loved them. Now it’s his time to spread that laughter and cheer to the rest of the world from above. Keep us smiling big man, I know you will.
