Jeraldean R. Morris, of Hoover, Alabama, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2020, at ninety years of age surrounded by her loving daughter, Linda Morris Peveler (Clay). Jeraldean was born in Millport, Alabama, on April 18, 1930. She graduated from Millport High School and went to work for Southern Bell, later South Central Bell and BellSouth, where she retired in 1987. She was famous for her homemade banana nut bread, fried apple pies, baking for her beloved church, and could always be found in her kitchen cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay E. Morris, mother, Etna Wood Rushing, and father, James Mansel Rushing. Jeraldean, or Maw Maw as she was affectionately called, is survived by her two granddaughters, Kristen Peveler Dunn (Charles), and Brittany Lynn Peveler; as well as two great grandsons, Daniel Brock Peveler and Luke Hardy Dunn. A private graveside service was held on May 18, 2020, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama officiated by Mr. Scott Bush and Mr. Carl Benedict. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Association of Alabama, P O Box 590146, Birmingham, AL 35259, or SouthCrest Baptist Church, 4317 South Shades Crest Road, Bessemer, AL 35022. The family would like to recognize with deep appreciation the caregivers of Choice Home Care who loved on her through her last years, especially Valerie and Charles Likely; Katisha Cook; Frederica Patrick; and Daveda Bell.
