Jenny LoRayne Stovall Meeks, of Hoover, born June 29, 1928, passed away on March 25, 2018.
After her first career as full-time wife and mother, Mrs. Meeks enjoyed a twenty year career with the Jefferson County Personnel Board as Chief Examiner. She was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church where she earlier served as president of her Sunday School class. Mrs. Meeks was a most loved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, William David Meeks; her adoring parents, Overton and Perlina Estelle Stovall; her sweet brothers, Oggie and Edgar Stovall; her precious granddaughter, Lisa Michelle Jenkins; and her infant grandson, Patrick Lee McWhorter.
Mrs. Meeks is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat Dudley (Bill) of Trussville, Joy McWhorter (Doug) of Hoover, and Linda Meadows (Johnny) of Lake View; her beloved grandchildren, Trey Jenkins, Lori Dudley Theriot (Chris), Michael Dudley, Rachel McWhorter-Rush (Ben), and Rebecca McWhorter; three great-grandchildren who brought her much joy, Juliette Theriot, Evans Dudley, and Pearline Dudley.
The family would like to thank Clara Odom for her years of care and love and the staff of St. Vincent’s Hospice for their expertise and support.
Visitation will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, 10-11 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. A graveside service will follow at noon at Forest Hill Cemetery conducted by Pastor Brian Hinton of Hunter Street Baptist Church.
