Jeffrey Ponder

Jeff Ponder, 46, of Houston, Texas, went to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, as the result of a car accident. Jeff was born on May 10, 1966, in Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated from Grissom High School in 1984. Jeff attended Auburn University and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Building Science. Jacobs Engineering employed him for most of his professional career. Jeff began working for Jacobs in Lakeland, Florida, and was working in the Houston, Texas office at the time of his death. Survivors include his son, Hunter Ponder; his mother, Betty Ponder; his sister, Sherri Foyt and her husband, Jim; his nieces, Jenna and Anna Foyt; numerous extended family including aunts and uncles: Charles and Helen Woods, James and Gloria Woods, and Jerry and Ruth Farris. His grandparents, Jeanette Sexton and Wallace Sexton, preceded him in death. His family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
