Jeffrey Edwards Sr.

Mr. Jeffrey Mark Edwards Sr., 77, of Hoover passed away on July 22, 2019 holding his wife’s hand. Jeff graduated from Vermilion Ohio High School in 1959 and Florence State College (now University of North Alabama) in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics. He was Mr. Florence State and UNA’s Leo the Lion #2. He received the UNA Turris Fidelis and Alumni Community Service Awards. He was the President of UNA Circle K, President of Inter-Presidents Council, member of the UNA Sportmans Club, and was a Charter Life Underwriter. Jeff proudly worked 41 years in management of various life insurance companies and was awarded numerous awards during his career. He was an avid UNA and Auburn fan. He loved boating, cars, golfing, and tennis, and watching his grandsons play sports. He was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher and was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Jeff was a sweet, gentle man. He was a real gentleman with a wry sense of humor. He was always ready to laugh with you and loved his family so much. It showed in his every word and manner. His pride in his children and grandchildren was evident whenever you talked with him.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Herbert R. Edwards; mother, Janette Spademan Fathauer; and step-father, Al Fathauer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pamela Browning Edwards; son, Jeffrey Mark Edwards Jr. (Cathy); daughter, Susan Edwards Glisson (Michael); grandsons, Jamie Edwards, Garrison Mitchell, Brady Edwards, and Tanner Glisson; granddaughters, MacKensie Coarsey and Kendall Lilly (Andrew); brothers, Jay Fathauer and Herbie Edwards; sisters, Janet Edwards and Karen Edwards; aunt, Ruth Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tom Cleveland and Pastor Bill Johnston officiating. The Committal Service will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.
