age 86, of Hoover, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2009. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Greene County, MS on July 27, 1922. She moved to Hoover in 2000, after having lived her life in Mississippi as the wife of a Baptist minister. Mrs. Holifield was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church of Hoover, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Holifield; a son, Terry Holifield; a grandson, Jason Holifield; and her mother and father, Villa and C. N. Walters. She is survived by her daughter, Dale Magers (Jerry) of Hoover, a daughter-in-law, Penny Sawyer of Liberty, MS; four grandchildren, Kristi Breaux (Craig) of Hoover, John Magers of Charlotte, NC, David Holifield (Sandy) of McComb, MS and Christopher Holifield of Liberty, MS; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Grace Holifield; a brother, Terrell Walters of Laurel, MS; a sister, Ramia Lee Pryor of Moss Point, MS; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 11-1 PM at Hunter Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM at the church, with Dr. Buddy Gray and K. C. Armstrong officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Helen Caton, and the wonderful nurses at Amedisys Hospice.
