James Wells

James “Jay” Wells the age of 70. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the age of 70.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Clay Norris Wells, mother, Frances Elaine Walther Wells and sister Deborah Wells Salter. Jay is survived by his sons, Justin Alexander Wells, Jason Keith Wells, grandchildren Justin Alexander, Jr. and Wolfe Odin, sister Patricia Wells, brother Kerry Clayton Wells and many nieces and nephews. Jay grew up in Vestavia Hills, AL and graduated from Berry High School. He went on to attend Auburn University was a member of Lambda Chi Fraternity and graduated in 1975 with a BA Degree in Sociology. Jay was a man of many passions, especially for Auburn Athletics and the Oakland A’s, but his interests ranged from an expansive music library (vinyl) to a massive wine collection that was 40 years in the making. Jay’s career path was also as far ranging as his hobbies. Jay was a Massage Therapist for many years and excelled in home restoration Project Management. Most importantly, Jay was a man of deep Christian faith. Jay carried that faith with him all of his life and touched many people around him.

Jay will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 25th at Currie Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL. Visitation is at 1:00 pm and the Service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel followed by graveside burial.
