James Gordon Stevens “Stevie”, 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 26th. A beloved, father, grandfather, and friend, James lived a life marked by passion, dedication, and achievement. Born in Birmingham, James graduated from Phillips High School before earning degrees from Auburn University and Birmingham School of Law. His sharp mind and commitment to justice led him to a distinguished career as an attorney. Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a standout three-sport athlete in his youth, earning numerous accolades for his skill and sportsmanship. His competitive spirit carried into his hobbies, where he became an avid golfer and a formidable poker player, always ready with a steady hand and a warm smile. James will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and strength. He is survived by his sons Griffin and Sloan, Daughter in law Lynne, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover, Friday April 4th at 11am followed by a graveside service for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bruce Pearl Foundation’s AUTLIVE initiative for Cancer Research in James’s honor, a cause close to his heart.
