James Rockett

of Calera, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, of a heart attack at home at the age of 65. He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Ft. Bragg, N. C. and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 35 years of service. Mr. Rockett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Jimmye Rockett; and a niece, Sheri Smith. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Adelia "Dee" Rockett; two sons, David B. Rockett (Angela) and Craig L. Rockett; three grandchildren, Chandler, Julianne and Carson Rockett; a sister, Marion R. Harris; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2009, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009, at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Neil Knierim officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
