James Prestridge

of Homewood, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the age of 81. He was a deacon and elder at Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Prestridge was a maintenance supervisor at St. Vincent's Hospital for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sarah M. Prestridge; a son, Joseph Paul "Skipper" Prestridge (Brenda) of Gardendale; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie M. Blankenship of Albany, GA; and a sister-in-law, Nell M. Bryant of Homewood. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 9-10 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. A graveside service will follow at 11 AM in Shelby Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Building Fund.
