James Cowan Martin, 62, son of the late James and Barbara Martin passed away on March 17, 2021. He was born on September 23, 1958 in Minor, AL. Jim graduated from Tarrant High School in 1976 as an honor graduate. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 44 years Tami Martin , his two daughters Ami Martin, Ana Ramsay (Matt), and grandaugthers Maci Martin and Maddux Ramsay. Jim is also survived by his brother Donny Martin and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Jim was a faithful, dedicated, loyal employee of Thompson Tractor Co. for 39 years as a Counter Clerk. Jim often worked extra shifts and a variety of side jobs to give his family the world.
In his free time Jim enjoyed fishing, watching Alabama football, family vacations, and spending many hours at his garage workshop. His greatest enjoyment came from coaching softball and attending dance recitals with his girls and in his latter years being a #1 Papa for his “grand-girls.”
Jim’s strong faith sustained him and his family through what would be their most difficult journey. It began 12 and half years ago with Jim’s initial Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Because of his disease, he was forced into early retirement in 2014 and in the years since, has seen the cruelty of this disease steal their precious Jim away- his personality, memories and passions.
The family sends a special thank you to Hope Hospice and special nurses- Crystal, Emily, Hillary, Kristine and Khara. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions be made to Hope Hospice- 651 Main Street, Ste 159, Gardendale, Al 35071.
