James Johnson, Sr.

Mr. James “JJ” William Johnson, Sr., 85, passed away on August 15, 2021. He was a husband, father, uncle, son, father-in-law, brother, and friend to many. He loved fishing, hunting, and Alabama football. He proudly served well in the United States Marine Corp for several years. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after a 30+ year career. We will miss him dearly and rejoice in the fact that he is enjoying his reunion with his love, and our mother, Peggy, up in Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Peggy Tucker Johnson; father, John Richard Johnson; mother, Beatrice Brooks Johnson; and his five sisters, Lois, Helen, Johnnie, Kathryn, and Florence.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan Johnson Slappey (Bill) and Patricia “Trish” Johnson Fox (Nick); sons, James William Johnson, Jr. (Tammie) and Jason Tucker Johnson (Tricia); 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with a memorial service following at Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 2404 Altadena Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35243.
