Mr. James H. "Pete" Hegwood, of Montevallo, age 72. Born in Raleigh, MS, August 23, 1939, passed away June 19, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Pete was a retired Cumberland Presbyterian minister, having served several churches in AL, MS, TN, and AK. He was a member of Grace Presbytery and attended Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Montevallo. He was a graduate of McAdory High School and Bethel College in McKenzie, TN. Preceded in death by parents, Dave and Mae Hegwood, sister, Brenda Strickland, and dearest friend, who was like a brother, Charles W. Hall. His loving survivors are his wife of 53 years, Clara Spradlin Hegwood daughter, Kathy (Danny) Blackmon of Pelham, son, Michael (Tracy) Hegwood of Clanton, grandsons; Chase and Jacob Blackmon, and Sky James Hegwood, sisters; Joyce (Jack) Franklin of Hueytown, and Carolyn (Don) Hulon of L:ake City, GA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, June 22, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
