Jack Smith Sr.

Mr. Jack Marchand Smith Sr., 90, of Hoover, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 surrounded by his family at home.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jack M. Smith Jr.; grandson, Chris Holt; parents, Clarence and Josephine Smith; brothers, C.E. Smith, Reid Smith, and Joe Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elaine Fondren Smith; daughters, Vicki Holt and Linda Smith; grandson, Michael Smith (Molly); great-granddaughter, Taylor Holt (Sylvester); great-great-grandson, Caden; grand-dogs, Cullen and Trudy; and several nieces, nephews, and special sitter, Bonita.

Jack served in the United States Navy for three years, was active in Boys Baseball for many years, and coached the American Legion Team to State Championship. He retired from Alabama Power with 41 years of service. After retirement, Jack and Elaine purchased an RV and traveled all of the country including Canada. Jack was a fun loving man and enjoyed being with his friends from childhood for many years.

There will be a Visitation on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. The Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
