of Hoover, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008, at the age of 71. He was born in Birmingham on January 20, 1937. He was a graduate of Samford University (Howard College) School of Pharmacy. Mr. Holloway was the Executive Director/Administrator of Beverly Health Care-West from 1993-2002, Executive Director Episcopal Foundation of Jefferson County Administrator//St. Martins-In-The-Pines from 1982-1993 and Vice-President of Operations and Development of Estes Health Care Center, Inc. He was a member and served in several professional organizations: the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation, Board of Directors; Alabama Nursing Home Association (Past Regional Vice-President, Parliamentarian, and Member of the Board of Directors); a member of American Pharmaceutical Association; past president and member of Jefferson County Pharmaceutical Association; past president and member of Academy of Institutional Practice, Alabama Pharmaceutical Association; past president of the Zone Advisory Council-Berry Human Resource Center; past chairman of Dargavel Scholarship Loan Foundation-Samford University; past president of Bluff Park School PTA; served five years-President's Advisory Council-Samford University; served on Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Birmingham Regional Health Systems Agency; served as adjunct instructor, Samford University, School of Pharmacy; served as adjunct instructor, University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Allied Health; and was past president of the Board of Directors, Industrial Health Council. Mr. Holloway served his church, Shades Crest Baptist, as Honorary Life Deacon, Sunday School Ministry Director and chaired several committees. He was active in many civic organizations: Positive Maturity, Board of Directors; Paul Harris Fellow-Rotary International; past chairman, Board of Directors, Actor's Theater; past president, VP, commissioner, football and baseball; coach, Shades Mountain Athletic Association; a former reserve fireman, City of Homewood, Civil Defense; and was a former reserve deputy sheriff, Jefferson County Mounted Posse. He was preceded in death by his son, Ken Holloway, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail Haynes Holloway; two daughters, Diana Richmond and Allison Holloway; three grandchildren, Jonathan Teal, Spencer Demarest and Jamie Richmond; two brothers, Herbert "Tid" Holloway and Sherman Gene Holloway; and four sisters, Eloise Hosch, Wilma Price, Ann Campbell and Joan Williams. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28, 2008, from 12-2 PM at Shades Crest Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at the church, with Dr. Dennis W. Foust and Dr. James A. Auchmuty officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
