Jack Barnes

passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the age of 73. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. Jack was employed as a registered nurse at West Georgia Medical for 22 years. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Barnes; a son, John Barnes (Angie) of Hoover; three grandchildren, Morgan, Marley and Maggie Barnes; a brother, Wayne Barnes of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2008, from 10-11 AM at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in LaGrange, GA. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Bill Phares officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery with full military honors.
