of Vestavia Hills, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the age of 76. He was an All-State Baseball player as a student at Calera High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis and retired from BellSouth after 39 years of service. Mr. Armstrong was also a faithful member of Vestavia Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elwood, Sr. and Nallie Ruth Armstrong. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leila M. Armstrong; two sons, Eddie Armstrong (Mickey) of Hoover, and Tim Armstrong (Julie) of Helena; four grandchildren, Jay, Jessica, Brian, and Zach Armstrong; a brother, Roy Armstrong (Carolyn) of Montevallo; and a sister, Ruth Comer of Birmingham. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel, with Harold Comer and Ernie Davis officiating. Interment will be in Pine Level United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pine Level, AL.
