of Hoover, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005, at the age of 83. She was a leader in civic and church activities for many years, and was renowned as a quilter. She was a long-time member of Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer. Ms. Hand was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John W. Hand, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Hughes (Harry), and Judy Hand-Truitt (Glenn); five Grandchildren, Leigh Ann Fleagle (Bill); Christopher Garrison, Cynthia Truitt-Lynch (Tim), Ginya Nakata (Ted), and Jonathan Truitt (Tessa); five great grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Elena Leigh, Juliana Fleagle, and Liam Lynch; a brother, Charles Crumpton, of Hoover; and three sisters, Louise Bush, of McCalla, Elaine Hulsey, of Clarksville, FL, and Maudine McGee, of Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. James Terpo and Rev. Barry Cosper officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Fleagle, and nephews, Keith Crumpton, Kirk Crumpton, Matthew Hutchinson, Ryland Byars, and Jeff Nesbitt. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
